The team advises domestic and foreign institutions on acquiring financial services and credit licences and exemptions. They advise on structuring and establishing financial services and credit businesses including licence obligations, drafting plain English documents, procedures, systems audits and online web application processes. They also advise on regulatory compliance projects and audits, regulatory enforcement defences, and regulator investigations and disputes.
Experience includes advising clients on financial products and channels, including FinTech solutions, peer to peer lending platforms, crowd funding, payment systems, crypto currency, reward programs, gift cards and financial services acquisitions, disposals and alliances.
They also have in-depth knowledge of privacy laws and regularly advise clients on data and privacy security and breach remediation.
The Financial Services team is looking to hire a senior Senior Associate / Special Counsel in Sydney to be 2IC to the partner.
- Day-to-day supervision of financial services regulatory matters, settling of advice - need to be organised and capable of working autonomously
- Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers - need to be comfortable leading/mentoring a small team
- Genuine progression to partner available; they are actively looking to expand the practice
- Sydney based but the firm and team are very supportive of flexible working (doesn't need to be in the office 5 days a week)
