Our client is a global law firm. Due to strong deal flow, the Melbourne office is looking for an Associate (2-4PQE) to join their energy & resources team.
The energy & resources team is led by a three partner practice in Melbourne. Associates within the team work across all three partners, ensuring varied and consistent work, and development, is available. They work across the full range of energy & resources matters including water, renewables and oil & gas.
The energy and resources industry is changing rapidly.
The role will see you working with major resources clients to assist them with large-scale projects and complex commercial transactions across the oil and gas and mining sectors.
You will be working on private and public mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, gas transport and gas supply agreement; minerals and petroleum exploration and production; and on issues relating to climate change, native title and water resources.
You will have specific experience and interest on the energy and resources industry. Ideally, you will have worked in the corporate practice of a well-regarded practice for at least two years.
Working with leading energy and resources specialists, you will use your experience and expertise in this sector to represent successfully the interests of mining companies and oil and gas companies (from global majors to mid-caps), in their various capacities including as joint venture participants and joint venture operators, buyers or sellers of gas, electricity, or other commodities such as iron ore and coal, or as buyers and sellers of various mining and oil and gas assets and projects.
Remuneration and benefits
Should you be successful, you should anticipate to receive a salary of around $115-130k (depending on experience).
