The Turkey Legal Market.
2018 and 2019 saw elections and unexpected political developments in Turkey. Continuing political uncertainty caused a further decrease in foreign investor interest, which led to a brief recruitment freeze in the market. However, there has been an increase in investment within the Middle East, especially in the financial services industry, which has created new career opportunities for Turkish lawyers both in Turkey and abroad.
Within the technology, energy, financial services and healthcare sectors we noticed the creation of new roles, with the majority of hiring taking place at the 5-10 year PQE level. At the more senior level, we have seen a few movements, mainly among local groups rather than multinationals. Individuals with skill sets in corporate, commercial, IP, data protection and compliance have remained in demand for the in-house positions.
The 2019 Global In-House Report is an overview of hiring trends from a variety of sources, from the local knowledge of experienced consultants to our regional salary guides through to general market sentiment derived from interviews with senior contacts.
